How the Company is run

The Court of Assistants

The Company is governed by its Court of Assistants — the senior members who oversee its affairs, uphold its traditions and direct its charitable and ceremonial life. The Court is led by the Master, supported by the Wardens.

Day-to-day administration is carried out by the Clerk, the Company’s principal officer and the first point of contact for members and enquirers. Members progress from Freeman to Liveryman, and may in time be called to the Court and to serve as Warden and Master.
